Celebrating Successful Business Women – and Mothers!

Every month, business women around Centurion get together to network and exchange ideas at the Hirsch Centurion branch.  As Mother’s Day is celebrated in May, this month was all about celebrating Mothers that work.

Margaret Hirsch, COE of the Hirsch Group welcomed the ladies and spoke about the empowerment of women in the business world, how women can get to the top by being passionate about what they do, believe in themselves and be determined to get there and be successful in business- and in the home!

The Finalist in the Margaret Hirsch Woman In Business Achiever Awards (Centurion) was also chosen at this event and this month’s finalist was Tracy Minnie, proud owner of Innovation Junxion (Pty) Ltd  t/a  iCoach. Said Margaret, “Tracy is a great example of a true business woman achiever!  Wife, mother of 2 boys, business woman and life coach.  Mrs SA Top 5 finalist 2011 and Mrs Tshwane 2012 and Head Judge of Jacaranda Show for four years.”

The Guest Speaker at the event was  Mariët Hammann owner of Living Life in Full Colour with the topic “Your signature language of chocolate”.   Mariët is an art based functional therapist who spoke about the different types of chocolate.  She explained the difference between raw, sun dried and roasted cocoa beans, the process that is undertaken and finally spoke about the different tastes of the white, milk, dark and raw chocolate. Concluding her talk, Mariet quipped “Dear Diamond, we all know who is really a girls best friend – Yours sincerely Chocolate”.

Prizes were up for grabs for the most creative hat, and  Carina Nel from Fashion and Style Club assisted with the hat judging and the Hirsch’s Mom’s on The Run Cookbook was handed to the lady with the most stylish hat and the most creative hat for the day.

WONDERFUL VIBE AT IRENE VILLAGE MALL PROMOTION

Hirsch’s Centurion were privileged to have  a SMEG Promotion in the upmarket Irene Village Mall recently and were given  prime position and exposure to customers from the higher LSM’s.

“With staff members from Hirsch’s and SMEG on hand with valuable information on the SMEG product, there has been a lot of interest shown at our stand, with the added attraction of  lovely baked bread and pastries, made in the SMEG oven.  A celebrity visitor – former Mrs South Africa finalist, Mrs Tshwane Tracey Lee Minnie – visited the display and loved the red SMEG fridge.” said Hirsch’s Joanne Brunette.

“There were lots of extra activities offered at the Mall – we had our very own Accordion Player serenading us!”

HIRSCH’S WHIZZ IT UP AT ZWARTKOPS AIRSHOW

The annual Zwartkops Airshow is the largest of its kind in South Africa, and took place on Saturday 9 May.  The Show is the official fundraiser for the SA Airforce Museum, which is also housed at the Zwartkops Airforce Base in Valhalla.

Said Hirsch’s Joanne Brunette, “There was a lot of interest in the VitaWhizz and the health benefits of being able to make your own smoothies “on-the-go”.

The winner of the lucky draw, held at 16h30 – was Kirsten-Anne Jooste, who was thrilled with her win.  “I’ve never won anything before”  Kirsten-Anne exclaimed.  “I cannot wait to make use of the VitaWhizz – thank you Hirsch’s for a fantastic end to a lovely day!

THE HEART OF EFFECTIVE NETWORKING - Telling your story

Hirsch’s Centurion recently hosted their monthly Business Networking Event with Guest Speaker  Ockert Möller from the Institute of Human Development

speaking on the importance of effective networking.  “Ockert touched on strategic positioning – being able to “explain who you are” in such a manner that people want to connect with you.  Some of the questions that your listener will be interested in are:

·         Who are you (do I know, like, trust you)?

·         What do you have (is it “shiny and new” or is it “old and dull”)?

·         Why should I care (will it really work for me)?

He explained that for an Entrepreneur the most important thing is to get started – “you don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great” he explained.

The Event was attended by over 50 business people, who were given the opportunity to present their business in 30 seconds.

Afterwards there was an exchange of business cards and networking over a cup of cappuccino and light snacks.
